History of Centennial Elementary

Centennial Elementary School opened in August 1999 and was named in honor of the 100th anniversary of Plano Independent School District.

One hundred years earlier, Plano ISD began as a single schoolhouse serving a small group of students on the Blackland Prairie. Over the decades, it grew into one of the nation’s premier school districts, spanning 100 square miles and serving more than 55,000 students. This remarkable growth and success reflect the vision and dedication of outstanding superintendents, educators, and community leaders.

Centennial Elementary stands as a tribute to those visionaries—a legacy rooted in a rich history, guided by a strong Tradition of Excellence, and committed to a promising future.
