Centennial Third Graders Rank in Top 10 Percent Nationally for Reading Growth

Two Centennial students stand side by side holding first- and third-place ribbons at the Regional Elementary Science Fair.

Centennial Elementary School was honored today with a special visit from Plano ISD’s Elementary Academic Services team and Dr. Lisa Wilson, Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, to recognize an outstanding academic achievement.

Centennial’s third-grade students were recognized for exceptional growth in reading on the mid-year Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. Student growth in reading ranked in the top 10 percent nationally, meaning Centennial third graders demonstrated progress at rates greater than 90 percent of their peers across the country.

This remarkable achievement reflects the intentional, collaborative work of Centennial’s third-grade teachers, dyslexia therapists, and resource staff. Through targeted instruction and data-driven practices, the team ensures every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Centennial Elementary is proud of its third-grade students and staff for their commitment to academic excellence and for helping every learner stay on a strong path toward college and career readiness.
